The LIN bus has been developed as a cost-effective addition to low-end hierarchical automotive networks. The typical applications are modules for doors, steering wheels, seats, climate control systems, lighting systems, rain sensors and light machines. Intelligent sensors and actuators can be easily connected to these modules via the LIN bus. With the LIN bus, the automotive industry has agreed on a communication standard below the CAN bus. In the meantime, the LIN bus has replaced almost all company-specific low-end protocols around the world. It has been especially designed for simple communication tasks in mechatronic applications, which assigns class A SAE. Like the CAN bus, the LIN bus has the potential to find a broad base even outside the automobile.
